Default Servicing Advice

Just bought a completely standard WRX registered in May 2006 with just 4000 miles on the clock (confirmed as genuine by former owner). In January 2007 at 959 miles it had the 1000 mile service and in November 2009 at 2993 miles it had the 3000 mile service. Given the mileage/age what level of servicing should I go for now to maintain reliability and performance? I am particularly thinking of the timing belt/fluids and plugs. The handbook suggests the cambelt should be changed after seven years - is that advisable?

A 40k service, stick with the service schedule in the book and you wont go wrong, it will state either/or on the age/mileage.
