Spec D or JDM Blobeye?
Hi all
I'm after a bit of info really.... Are the Spec D's worth the extra money on tax? Are the 2.5's strong enough to make 400bhp?
Or am I better of getting a JDM Blobeye?
Many thanks

two totally different cars though spec d is discreet and jdm blob is anything but discreet. I chose my05 jdm blob and have no regrets. Twinscroll is something you need to try though as doesn´t feel quick. In fact when I test drove it I thought my wrx felt quicker. But when you get used to it you realise it is quicker just it pulls better.

Gaz,
You need to drive both and see which one you prefer. Out of a reliability perspective, I would tend to look at a 2ltr tbh. The OE 2.5ltr does have known reliability issues compared to the 2ltr.

in agreement with steve, I to have had my 05 jdm sti for 2 months and im loving every seconed. I went for the jdm because after researching on here found out the jdm have stonger internals, better spec than UK cars.

Define internals As I said not sure what the prices are doing atm but JDM's are more expensive therefore with the work required to reach 400/400 dropping in some forged pistons and uprated HG's may not be a bad idea to end up with a 2.5 with easy 400/400 tuning potential. Both great cars but as I see everything in financial cost benefit terms, I'd do the maths first

Crank's are different, the JDM has the nitrided/drilled one for better oil distribution to the main bearings, not seen one (or heard of one) that has had a big end bearing go.
Pistons, high intensity cast pistons, then we have the fact the 2ltr jdm is a twin scroll car, your boost is coming in at less than 1800rpm, by 2.5k rpm on an unmapped car (ie standard jdm map) that equates to 80% of the cars torque (and out of the box they produce more bhp and more torque than a 2.5ltr STI )
The car with the better internals in the engine (or better engine to start with ) is the JDM twin scroll
