Well, there has been this argument that the Wagon handles slightly better than the saloon, I might be biased being a wagon owner.
As for differences, well, if we are talking 'classic' impreza then I think that there are minimal differences between the two, well, UK spec at least, though I could be wrong. I recall that my wagon (My94 WRX Wagon) has different compression ratio and gearing to the WRX saloon, something to do with the more load lugging and towing image of the wagon.
If we're talking MY01 or later, then things are different. On a wagon you don't get the flared arches, and, umm ,think that is it. When talking New age STi, there are biggere differences. For a start, there is at present no Type UK Sti Wagon In Japan there is, but the differences are that the wagon does not havr the flared arches, brembo's, front suretrac diff, ally suspension arms (I think) and maybe other bits. In other words, the Wagon simply has the interior and engine of the STi, which is a real shame.

They differ in so much as you can use the performance to the full in the wah-gon and not draw attention to yourself. That's the best bit for me. I don't mind the Corolla quips...anonymity rules.. Plus you'll find you don't get any road rage (or hardly any)..I had a Turbo saloon before, and was sick of w*nkers trying to race me. Doesn't happen in the wagon.
