If these boxes reduce the back pressure - what does that do to the Turbo (which relies on back pressure to work properly?)

Do big bore exhausts give a longer turbo lag?? do they damage the turbo??

"the Turbo (which relies on back pressure to work properly?)"

Surely, the less resistance for exhaust gases, the better for spooling up the turbo and for getting rid of them.

Think of the engine as an air-pump. The more air that you can get through it, the more power it'll produce.

Off-boost, back-pressure can help I think.

However I remember reading about back pressure once. When exhaust gases travel down the exhaust they do so in waves, i.e. similar to sound waves. Apparently if the exhaust system is not engineered correctly the gas waves will exit the pipe at the wrong resonance or something and may bounce back which reduces the speed at which gases exit.

Not sure about this one but remember reading it years ago
