Old member, back again !!!
Wow, this site has gotten mahooosive !!!!
I joined this site in June 2000 and at that time I had a MY95 WRX import - there weren't that many around at that time and they have moved on a lot since then !!!! I kept the car for 8 years and finally sold it in May 2008 because it was starting to get costly and old. I have a MK2 Escort RS2000 as a toy and so I was not totally lost !
I still have the RS which is plenty of fun, however, I have always hankered after another Scoob and I did wander into the Focus St area for a while but couldn't stand the damn thing and so as of tomorrow morning I pick up my 2005 WRX STi which I am extremely pleased about
So ... my question is (for those that are still reading this lol) .. is this place as friendly as it used to be???? And are there any tips for a reborn Scoob owner lol ?

Welcome back to the site and the world of Subaru ownership.
So I would imagine that if you joined in 2000 then you would have run into pslewis, Mr Ree, Sunny Side Up or whatever nomdeplume that Pete was using 'back in the day'.
I guess he would have been a mere slip of a boy at around 70 years old back then.

scoobs are still the best car 'in the twisty's' allegedly
things are deffo a LOT quieter, I remember when you had to scroll 2 or 3 pages each day to see if you had been spotted, now there's prob only half a dozen posts in 'was it you'
visited 'Muppet's' a few times and thats fairly quiet too used to spend hours trying to get a corner
Pete Lewis is still here preaching standard is best

Jo Peters - did we ever meet at the Scooby meets - I used to be Rannoch and joined the year before you. I remember the name - used to do the Scoobymeets around Fleet with Jaslo - Jason Love - before he became an Evo driver!!

Haven't been on much myself over the past 3 yrs.
NS04, PSLewis, Butty, Banny STi, GC8 - good to see they are all going strong!
Andy Mc
PSSeems to be less trolling now! Plus still as informative as ever.

I was involved with helping (Big Vern organised it) at the Alton town centre meet once or twice as well.
I have a black RS2000 but my partner of 4 years has a white RS (cossie powered) and a green flat fronted/arched RS as well.
I didn't like the RS because it just didn't drive like a Scoob to be honest and I had loads of clutch problems (and no, it's not my driving !!!).
Picking up the STi today so am looking forward to getting out and about
ps. how do I put up pics??

Welcome back!! One of my mates has a chipped Focus ST running about 275bhp and it pulls like a train. What did you not like about yours as I have drove his and I liked it. We had a little play on a private road and mine is a 05 STI running around 300bhp and I could not get away from him Let's say I am thinking of getting one

Hi Jo,
Welcome back!
I just lurk now, after ten years with 3 Imprezas and a Forester.... I was finally Subaru free last year!
Making do with a Saab 9-3 Viggen Convertible with 230bhp in the mean time, but looking for a replacement soon, ideally a "sensible" hot hatch and an Elise (or similar)
Enjoy your new Scoob!

Hello Andy ... surprising how many of the longstanding members are still on here !!!
PJ-STI - I had a lot of problems with the clutch and the gearbox - my mechanic said it looked like someone had already played about with the clutch/gearbox prior to them looking at it. To be honest I think I just picked a dodgy one and it just put me off them. I guess the fact that there are a sea of them each year at Ford Fair goes to show their huge popularity so I guess I just had a bad experience

Welcome back Jo
Have you a photobucket type account? www.photobucket.com free to join, gives you the option to upload pics, then has a few links under it which you just put in your post and your sorted
Tony
PS, which STI have you gone for?

You're getting a 2005 STI UK or JDM ?
There's more of a following of the Japanese domestic model now, than I remember in 98/99; I'm sure you'll get a few quips preaching the virtues of un-burbled, rear wash wiper, short geared cars, if you choose a UK one :-)
Turbo tech seems to have advanced too, twin scroll, roller bearing, billet compressor wheels, etc; more people running forged internals, better mapping techniques ...as much geek stuff as you want.
One thing that hasn't changed is the need for deep pockets for mods.
