Default What octane booster?

Going to keep a bottle in my boot in case of emergency, (no Shell garages, french 98 octane fuel etc), so what do I need to buy?

I asked at a local place and they had about three different types, none of whose names I recognised. Or are they all the same?

A source would be nice too, if anyone knows of one?

TIA.

And according to Which?, so is SUL. Id try Nitrous Formula, one of the very few that will achieve something. Fifth Gear only tested tat found in Halfords.

I use Millers Octane Plus .. although I believe it has been renamed recently to Power Ecomax - One Shot Boost ... http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.p...d=m1b0s28p1390 or http://www.scoobyparts.com/acatalog/...ER_MOCT10.htmlas it adds 2 octane numbers to the fuel .. so if you have 97 RON SUL add one bottle to a tankful .. if really desperate and get NUL 95 RON add 2 bottles to a tank.

I keep 4 bottles in my spare tyre just in case

See here too http://www.millersoils.net/1_Millers..._AUTO_FUEL.htm

There's only 1 worth using and that's NF in the black bottle.

Is there one where you can just put 2 capfuls in or are they all the whole bottle for 50 litres of fuel?

NF Race is 60 mil per tankful for ordinary road driving (300mil bottle) , but I just slop a generous approximation in as it doesn't matter if more than that goes in - used to measure exactly but not necessary imho. Track driving I put 3 X norm in. Bottles store handily top down in the jack cubby hole

2 points is normally 0.2 octane.

If your plugs were red (not orange), that indicates the presence of ferrocene, which is in essence iron and is extremely abrasive and will cause increased engine wear.

Another vote for NF. It seems to be the best out there.
