Just got Defi Pod
Hi all,
Just won a set of Defi's on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
Anyone able to tell me what i've let myself in for in terms of wiring and plumbing these things??
Is it hard to get cables into the cab etc?
Thanks for the info

Not on this exact sort of thing.
However, i have just successfully removed engine, split it, got block bored, fitted new shells, an .5mm over size pistons, and re-built it all, and am back on the road again driving it
However, never tried routing cables from engine bay to cabin. Most wiring i've done is fitting a new radio!
I will have use of every tool you can think of, and a 2 post lift.

i am confident you will be able to do that easy especially if you did the above.

And im sure if you can handle an engine rebuild then you'll be fine with the gauges just might take longer than you'd hope lol

Its a 03 jdm one, with only 48,000kms. But was guzzling about 1L of oil per 400 miles as soon as I got it, with no tell tail signs of a problem.
So having discovered its appetite for oil, i did a compression test, an got only 25psi on one cylinder. At that stage i knew engine had to come out.
1 piston had top two compression rings broken in about 20 pieces, and slightly scuffed barrell.
So any pointers for this job?? Little tricks of the trade as such?
Does any of the dash have to come out, bar the top bit of course, where the clock is?

If you go on the jolly green monster's website and you'll get the pin layout for your ecu and im pretty shore it tells you which one's to pick up to so you'll be away then.
Just in the middle of a forge build myself with wiseco's and eagle rods, also .5 over as myn has scored the bore slightly

Very easy to fit, Did mine in about an hour, Used the stereo loom to provide all the power and the light function. you need to check the wiring diagram which most aftermarket stereo's provide to see what does what and then just joined in.
the sensors aren't rocket science
PS: expect to be stung for import duty and vat by the courier, this can take up to 6 weeks after they deliver it!!!!

I think its been badly mapped by a crowd in west of ireland.
Its over fuelling now, so need to get that sorted incase its washing the bores, and causing trouble.
I got omega's. Meant to have been used in cars making 900bhp, so good enough for my megre VF37!

Plus in Ireland (dublin) only about half the stuff that comes in from outside europe is ever stopped anyway, so its a gamble here just!
It'd be nice to be able to tap into the stalk that does the lights (5 adj from bright to dim) on the clocks actually! hmm
If not, the stereo it is. Cheers

Worth looking on the Defi site as fitting instructions are on there in pdf format.
You MAY need an adpator to screw the oil temperature gauge sender into it's hole above No3 cylinder, although it MAY come with it, wait and see. An adaptor is next day from most places in the Uk that sell gauges and costs a few quid.

Not sure how long it's gona take to get them anyway, as they're coming from Japan. I'd guess 10days anyway.
Have a track day on the 30th july in Mondello park in Kildare (ireland) and would love to have em fitted by then!
