do you need special insurance to tow a car transporter?
as above, i have been getting my cars recovered for a while now, wouldn't mind getting one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TWIN-AXLE-CAR-...item2c55ccbe4d
But would i need any special insurance etc? or could i just attach it to my car and use it with my current insurance.. i wouldn't be doing it professionally, just for my own cars.
anyone shed any light on this..

as above, also how long have you been driving? if its after jan 97 you may not the entitlement on your licence due to the weight.

I doubt a standard licence would cover you, you would need to find out the weight of the car you are using to tow the trailer with, the trailers weight and the car you would have on the trailer. if this came to over a certain amount, which I cant remember how much it is, but it will be over im sure you will have to take a specific test for towing a trailer of this size. think its a braked weight of 3500 kgs. ile bet that trailer is 900kgs on its own! I have a class 2 and id need to take that test to tow it also...

I regularly trailer my MK2 to various shows up and down the country with no added insurance needed. You have to make sure you are within your towing vehicles permitted towing weight. (Trailered vehicle and trailer combined) Also you need to take into consideration whether the trailer is braked or not.
Best trailer by far to use is a Brian James Clubman which comes in at under 500kg
