Hawkeye Front N/S shock

Hawkeye Front N/S shock
HELP!!
Had my 07 hawkeye wagon for 6 months, and just found out that the front n/s shock is knackered - It left oil all over the drive.
Just educated myself on the 'potential' shock absorber problems on scoobies
Anyone recommend what replacement shocks to fit and who in the UK supplies them.
Don't really want to spend hundreds on track springs, cos the car is just used by the missus in the week and me for the occasional blat at the weekend.
Can anyone recommend like for like replacement shocks that will last more than 40k miles.
Any advice appreciated. Cheers

Unfortunately it was 3 yrs old in march.
Local dealer not interested in any goodwill gesture.
Spose can't blame them as I have never been there before, but you have to ask don't you.
Happy to quote me £500 for one side; or £948 to replace the pair
Feel like I am subsidising all the shocks they replace under warranty.
Not a good introduction to scooby ownership.
But at least the car still makes me smile every time I drive it!

Plenty of shocks for classics/blobeyes etc..
I don't know maybe too new for aftermarket bits yet?
I will phone round a few other dealers, cos my gut tells me that they are taking the pish.

Have you tried contacting IM?
I've heard on occasions, especially with struts and being 'just' out of warranty, they offer a 50% discount on the parts!
As above, definitely replace in pairs.

1. Yes KYB do manufacturer the OEM shocks
2. Camskill are the cheapest as far as I know (£197 for 2 shocks as opposed to £269 on Ebay)
3. I once had a UK sti just out of Warranty by a few weeks, with knocking rear struts, and Subaru Cheam motors honoured my claim.
4. Try and not let this put you off Subaru ownership, as I can imagine you will have very little if nothing else going wrong! In the last 2 years I've owned a Corsa Vxr, 1 year old, and 3 times it went to Vauxhall for warranty issues, beofre that, I had a BMW 330d which went to BMW twice for warranty issues within 6 months, and if I didn't have an extended BMW warranty it would have cost me over £1000 each time!
