Default Mahle pistons

I need new pistons and have been given a good price for a set of 4 Mahle pistons. I wanted to stick with the genuine Subaru items but will add £920 to the cost of my rebuild (nearly doubling it!).

Does anyone have any experiance/comments about Mahle pistons. The car is a Blobeye STi and won't exceed 350 BHP.

Posted in the tech section, but it seems quiet in there today.
Thanks, Rich.

I have just put them in my 2.5, and seem to be doing a great job.

Mahle pistons are a good choice for a road based engine, not noisy when cold, providing the correct clearence was obtained when fitting.

I have been using them for years on numerous engines, not failed any.

Had Mahle pistons in mine running 600bhp for 20,000 miles.

They had significant grief over that period.

They should last a lifetime in a 350bhp engine if treated well.

Thank you guys. I have only read bad things about them, but people usually only post up when there's problems.
