Andy F remap today
Had a nice wee calm drive coast to coast across Scotland today to see a certain Andy F. But the lead up to this week was anything but. Collected all the bits for my remap over the last 8 months. Left a week to have them fitted but a few issues along the way. I wanted my car to pass its first MOT so opted for the following spec.Car is a MY07 wrx running tesco 99
Prodrive 100 cell sport cat
Prodrive 2nd de-cat
Scorpion de-resonator centre pipe
Prodrive back box
Prodrive Y pipe
Forge VTA valve
Green panel filter
NGK iridium heat 7 plugs
The Prodrive sport cat and 2nd de-cat came off a low mileage WR1. I booked the car in to Greer Sport Racing to have them fitted along with the centre section and plugs. I now know the Hawkeyes have a different set up from the Blobs. So car was booked today for Andy F and this was now Tuesday so basically fcuked, but Colin from Greer sport fitted plugs and centre pipe and arranged a Wednesday 8.00 am appointment for Meercat Exhausts. They fitted the sports cat that needed modded, you need to grind down the centre partition of the flange as it fowls on a TD04, then stripped the heat shield off the 2nd de cat added in a 4 inch bit of stainless pipe and rebuild the heat shield, Prodrive would have been proud of the workmanship. Panic over.
So now on to today, arrived at Andy’s today at 10 am didn’t know what to expect, he asks a few questions regarding the spec then hooks up all sorts of kit on the car does some setting and checks to the car and then on to road mapping. Andy just gives you basic request i.e. gear speed revs wont bore you, but you feel the car getting quicker and quicker. He finishes all the new parameters and tells you to give it some beans on great Scottish roads but I did not know them so rather than kill the guru and wreck the car I was a bit conservative but the car felt like it was in a lower gear 3rd felt like 2nd etc. Net result 282BHP and 350lbs of torque one happy man and still will pass a MOT. When I got back home had a wee play on my own roads WOW night and day.
So I will finish with some BIG thanks to
Greer Sport Racing in Beith
Meercat Exhausts kilbirnie
Andy Forrest Performance Port Seaton
Prodrive 100 cell sport cat
Prodrive 2nd de-cat
Scorpion de-resonator centre pipe

I booked it about 7 weeks ago not a group buy was £470 + vat bargin Slightly cheaper than his website price but map went well no issues. I have seen some threads where Andy goes the extra mile with a customers car that has a arrival problem. He is a top man expalins everthing he is doing and does it in a clear friendly manner. Mapping is very involved not just a laptop and a lead the initial expence is the Ecutek liecence and software. If you require a second map after say turbo upgrade the price is £190 + VAT I hope I am finished spending money lol fingers crossed and dont need a 2nd map. I will be gutted if I get bored with the extra BHP and the Massive torque the car is pulling very well

Think they all much a muchness Andy did one same spec made 285BHP 345lbs. Simon aka JGM gets good press on here so no worries there, I happen to live 80 miles from Andy so lucky me. The torque comes in over 300lbs from 2700 rpm and peaks at 350lbs 3400 still above 300lbs at 4700 but powers on way out at 5800 TD04 pitfall but you have a very big 3000 rpm chunk of power on real world road use the WRX 2.5 now has made sence. it will never be a 400 400 STI but very capible road car, i will now focus on makin a bit better on the twisty bits.

I reccomend the hybrid TD4 turbo from Andy, same low down pick up but better at the higher revs. (if you use them!)
Should get around 310bhp and 365ft lb torque and the car is effortless to drive.

Andy set up my defis as SVA imports fitted second hand ones and id driven halfway home before i realised why they were adjustable an how to work the control unit!
