Default MAF Sensor MY00

Hey Guys

Just after some clarification. Am i right in says if i disconnect the MAF sensor whilst the engine is running and it does not stall then it is knackered?

I have just done that and the revs dropped right down but did not stall. Is it broke?

Cheers

thats not exactly a true way of testing it.on your model car if u are in any doubt then i would replace it regardless,i was doing mine as routine maintanence procedure.if yours hasnt been replaced since new then defo replace as the results of a faulty maf could be NOT nice. dont forget to reset ecu after fitment.

Hi Mate I have the same issue , the info below is just what I have researched and read I am not telling anyone what to do as everyone has their way.

I have a flat spot around 3k and I have tryed a full service first , new ngk plat plugs leads , fuel filter etc etc.

But then i went on google and did a search on the issue , and it seems the way to tell if your maf has gone is get the car warm (dont trash it ) but make sure its warm then unplug the maf , if the engine cuts out its not the maf .

But if the revs drop then come back up and the engine continues to run it is the maf , a engine check light will appear on the dash aswell .

But As soon as you put the plug back on the maf it will go away .

I have ordered A new maf from my subaru dealer they are £94 plus vat for our year car and carry a 3 year subaru parts Warranty so worth a punt as mine has been on the car since new.

Hope that helps and makes sense ?.

Regards

Dan
