Hi, the gearbox originally came from David @ Api. He fitted it to Serge a Russian dude, who had Legacy converted to a 6 speed box, he is on here this forum. Unfortunately Api took the gearbox number off, so i don't know what car it came off in the first place. So i am stuck. LOL

One of the problems with Sergei's car was that it was a Legacy and the speedo could never be made to work [ maybe the world has moved on now ]
BUT the problem was; that the sender in the box has a rounded wave signal and the speedo expects a square wave signal and they won't talk to each other.
MANY electrical wizards looked at it for us and there was no way to make it work.
So it may be that the transducer is actually fubarred and always has been, but as it couldn't be made to work with the Legacy it never showed up.
I believe that the box was JDM STi ratios So TY 856 WB ***
The speedo sender is the same as 5 speed ones if that helps.

I remember this car being broken at the end of last year......... and I remember there being serious problems with the speedo not working because of gearbox problems.

Not quite Shaun, there is nowt wrong with the box just that the two electronic signals cannot be persuaded to talk to each other. I imagine that a datalogger type dash would fix it but Sergei had spent all his money and the cost of the data dash would have been too much.
After all, his GPS system gave him a speed reading, so all that mattered was that the miles were not being recorded.

Hi David
I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the box, but maybe the seller should have mentioned he had some problems with the speedo to make things easier for EH52WRX.
Cheers

I think he did Shaun. In any case, " the problem " was in a conversion to a Legacy and it ought to work Impreza to Impreza, no matter the model. In any case EH52 has his original speedo " thingy majiger " to fit, which should work.

LOL, Thx guys.
I hope to fit my thingy majiger as soon as, because i had to travel 13 miles in road works with those average speed cameras. And thanks David for showing some light on the gearbox spec.
Richard.
