BEST TYRES FOR MY HAWKEYE?!?! PLS HELP :(
I need 4 new tyres ASAP
Cheapest Ive found for the standard BRIDGESTONE RE070 POTENZA - 225/45R17 90W is for 104 each not inc fitting but as I'm selling up shortly, I don't know if there's a cheaper option thats still a decent-ish tyre?
Whats everyone else using and where are you getting them from?
Thanks
Laura

Agreed Sessantas are excellent .. as are Goodyear Asymetrics .. both good tyres .. and imo preferable to Toyo poxies !! as their sidewalls are too soft .. but .. as I say .. in my opinion

You can replace them with 90W or anything higher, e.g. 92Y or 92Z.
If you are selling, then Falkens are ok, but if I was buying a newish car like that I would only want one with the best tyres.
I found the Vredesteins to be more expensive than the GoodYears locally.

Vredstein Sessanta's definitely!
I have been running them for the passed 5 weeks and love them. Although they are a cheap tyre a Google search brings up amazing reviews of them and shows the fact they out do the big boy's over and over again.

If you don't go round corners particularly quickly.
I put some of these on my classic after a recommendation (from a Subaru tuning specialist as it goes) and took them off again after less than 3 months because they were gripless. Replaced them with Eagle F1 GSD3, which were better but still a bit lame. Next up were some Hankook Ventus V12 Evos and these were both well-priced and grip is far superior to the other two.
Just bought an Evo 7 and thats got T1Rs on it. They're rubbish on that too and will be dumped shortly (luckily there isn't a massive amount of life left in them anyway). At least I know the last owner wasn't going round corners particularly fast.
Sorry about that Laura, only just saw the thread.

...unimpressed to start, (felt like lots of sidewall flex) they have got better over time.
They need to have a bit of heat in them (set off on a morning and back end was out on a roundabout 3/4 mile from home)
Manageable amount of lift off oversteer when forced hard in dry weather... ie not scary
They don't like being loaded up fast/heavily... unless you are slow in fast out it is very unproductive. once loaded up there is no issue with grip
...they squeak a little bit when pushed... got better.
...Funnily enough I have zero negatives in the rain, unlike RE070's with DCCD in wet weather. had a very bad experience with those.
So a good balanced tyre for my Standard STi, they were £100 each though..... (fitted with 'free' laser alignment check at Revolution)
