Safety question regarding flat tyre?
#1
Got in the car tonite and drove about 100m at 30 mph, heard funny noise and stopped.
Rear drivers tyre flat
Crawled back home at 5mph.
Changed tyre and there is a dirty big nail in it.
Is it safe to have a tyre fixed on a car like this. There appears to be some scuffing on the sidewall. I am sure the garage will try to sell me a new one just dont want to be ripped off, But on the other hand don't want to put myself and possibly others in hospital for the sake of £100.
Bloody tyres only a couple of months old.

Also had that problem afaik as long as the nail is not near the sidewall its ok that what the fitter told me?
cost £25
Also it happend on a sunday and the only places open in my area were kwik-fit and thay could not fix it because thay did not have the right equipment to repair 18" wheels at that time(thay may have now).
All the best

must be the season for nails
Got what looked like a slow puncture on thursday, dropped into tyre gaff to check it. Nail right on shoulder. Order rubber ( delivery for saturday ), didn't show sat, left the wheel with them & put the spacesaver on. Crawled home.
Why does this sort of thing always happen on a bank holiday ??

agree with cosmic,
if youve drove on a flat and there is noticable sidewall damage then bin it!A blow out when your PLAYING will put you in danger, get a new one.Stick it on you c/card and forget about it.

Another vote for cosmic and yoza here - just been through the same pain myself (tho' the missus was driving and didn't stop "as she was only 1/2 mile from destination" >:0().
If the side wall is damaged it may not seal against the rim properly and will be ripe for a blow out when the tyre is most stressed - i.e. when you're in most danger.

Yep also recommend a new one. Been there seen it done it. Had a blow out in the old Scoob, rear tyre at 80 mph, didn't realise just heard some strange tarmac noise. Eventually stopped tyre totall shredded.
