Default Does different exhaust cause a increase in Fuel Consumption

You may of read my earlier post regarding me having to buy a new exhaust.

Well I had a Apexi N1 exhaust on my MY STI V5. But due to a hole I replaced it with a Afterburner Vortex with centre section(resonated). Also have had a new Ninja Sports cat fitted a month earlier.

My question is, I'm sure my fuel consumption has increased a little bit. Now I'm just guessing that as there is more airflow in the cat, the ecu is putting more fuel in?

Now I can live with the extra fuel but is this bad for the engine. At the moment I'm trying to stay away from having a remap. Due to money situation.

But in your opinion is it a must and will I have to have a new ecu or can my v5 ecu just be remapped.

or maybe because you have a new exhaust sound, you are pressing the loud pedal more so you can hear it?

Is it a full system or just a back box? A remap is recommended with anything but a back box. So it may be running differently causing a worse fuel eco.

Thanks

Yes its a full exhaust from cat back but then again my Apexi was to lol.

mmm now this remap is something I need to look into really. If its just going to cause a bit more usage I can live with that. But in terms of being safe for the engine then I will have to look into it.

And yes the noise is a treat especailly when on overun lol.

I think it's a good idea simple to look after the engine. I guess enough use with it running poorly could effect the engine.

Thanks
