Default 95 WRX Wagon Tuning Options

Hi All

Newbie here, with a few questions. Been googling a lot since buying my WRX Wagon (Today).

What are the tuning options, it has a TD04 turbo, K&N Cone filter, and a cat back exhaust....

Would like to retain the original turbo but would like a wee bit more boost.

What are my options, does it need chipping.

Thanks, Pete

TD05 turbo and a Z4 ECU from a 1995/1996 Saloon. Itll still work with a de-cat downpipe and you dont need a cat on a <August 1995 import. Beyond this an ESL ECU upgrade fitted to your original ECU, either fixed or mapable, depending on your budget. ESL can supply a 'ScoobyECU' for the TD04, but the turbo cant produce more than 280bhp at best, as it is, and its less than ideal.

Pete,

Chips are what you have with Fish.

Get a remap, Powerstation are great, just search on here for them.

Good luck.

Exactly what I was do. The TD05 is a good choice on a wagon and if you don't want to gain just 20bhp you can use a scooby ecu chip like Simon said You can also uprate the intercooler, my sister had an sti4 top mount on hers until 2 weeks ago when I replaced it with a front mount.

Sorry showing a bit of ignorance here, coming from cossie I know a grand total of naff all about scoobies.

Ok td05 route and a z4 ecu seems the route, will it run more boost with the standard map?

What about this ecu - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

and ive seen td05's for about 100quid? that seems super cheap.

Simon suggested the chip\board upgrade because you can't remap early ECU's...

i would confirm it is a polar performance/scott.t chip before you part with your hard earned, there are a alot of ebay sellers saying it a polar performance chip when it isnt, if he is genuine he will take a picture of the inside of the ecu to prove it.

Missed that one anyway. Know anywhere I can get one?

What about these ones any experiences?

Also been considering a mines ecu, heard these might be a wee bit aggressive and **** your engine quite quickly though?

Polar Performance has ceased trading, according to Scott. The only 'fixed' option now will be a 'ScoobtECU (nothing to do with Scott or David) from ESL.

You'd be better off with a mapable ECU like a Simtek.
Powerstation can supply and map that.

Changing STD ECU's will be hit and miss at best.
