Default Help Please ??? (Tuning)

Hi,

Some might know I've jus finished building my Missus a Classic Impreza (Version 2).

The engine's fresh & the ECU has a piggy back unit attached to it. Our problem is we CAN NOT get more than 10 psi out the thing !! Whats causing this ? The ECU ? The boost solinoid ? No air leaks etc, Actuator seems a little weak but most of the standard Scooby one's I've seen are & jus put it down to being boost controlled rather than lettin the actuator spring strength determin the boost level. We want 1.1 bar (15/16 psi). Would a Dawes device work if I bypass the solinoid ? I've got det cans, Stack AFR & boost guage. Jus dont know to much about Scooby ECU's at the mo

Cheers in advance

jb

P.s. The car in question (SwissTony's old car)

I think I know what you've done here, in one of the vacuum hoses to the boost solenoid there was a restrictor (works like a jet in the cossie amal valve). Find that and pop it back in and you should have boost again

Love it on the new wheels

To be honest if youre sticking with that intercooler and the STD injectors you'd be fine just getting a scoobyecu type chip off eBay. I put one on my old 95 and it made 301bhp at zen, safe fueling too. Only cost me about £40 iirc. But then again it sounds like you've got something similar anyway, I'd post a pic up and someone will tell you. Not sure why it's only making 10psi on STD solenoid though! You say you've put the restrictor back in your new vacuum hose? Got it plumbed in correctly? Tried plugging plugs under dash in and seeing if solenoid clicks away? If it does could try cleaning out through with some carb cleaner. I'd say (going by the description of your ecu setup) you should be seeing 1.1bar on STD solenoid

Which ECU do you have in there? Before my sister when for the power FC she had a Scott T polar performance chip. She had a Z4 ecu so she sold that and bought one with a socket for the chip and it removed the 180kmh limiter and gave it more power.

The restrictor does sit inside one of the standard vacuum hoses, I might be able to find out where on my sister's if that helps. She uses an AVCR now though but the solenoid and pipework is still there.
