how much hp is enough ?????????
Depends what you want to do with the car
but....
I would honestly say for a good driver 500BHP should be the cap especially in a classic.
Personally even this is pushing it as anything around 400BHP makes a very rapid road car if its a road car your after.

i had 320 then 340 i have 390now and im thinking of one more turbo and some heads to make 420-450 and thats it for me to be honest it puts most car on the road to same now any way i just think i need to make it spoll up a bit quicker thats all but i have spent enought on it fo rthe time being and it always puts a smile on my face
I guess the figure goes up the longer you have the car. Me for instance, I haven't had mine long so I'm thinking 350/350 would be just perfect as a sensible but fun daily driver in my newage, and thats what I'll be aiming for right now.
Having said that, once I've achieved that it probably won't be too long before I start itching to take things to the next level.
I guess a healthy 400bhp plus similar torque would be the icing on the cake in my eyes for an everyday usable road car, and even then telling average people you drive a 400bhp subaru they still think you're a bit of a nutter.
But as said before, I'm a newbie to scoob ownership. For me, right now, 350 would be perfect.

From: will be back in another scooby in time....
Good point there's always someone quicker it never ends there's always something that your going to want. I started with a box standard type r then got it up 320bhp then 392 then 420 now just over 500 it really never end. In a stripped out classic I think 350 to370 is more than enough for the road you will see off most cars and it will be an 11 second car with the right driver. Newage around 450 for the road. The more power you run the less usable the becomes IMHO.
260 to begin with, told myself that was enough then got the bug
340 for me at the moment, I've got used to it after 18 months and it seems slow sometimes, but goes well on track once wound up. I think there are more smaller/cheaper mods I can do to improve the car, handling, ecu etc as I have a newage wrx the next hike in power is going to be very expensive, as I will need to start saving for a 6 speed box and a rebuild ....

627 bhp, New-age STI, sorted.....
Lucky enough to have a ride in bigarf's new toy and it's so civilised, it just goes. Whereas mine sits and waits a while... then at 4 krpm it's wallop ! Sadly less than 2/3 rds of the power.

a few years ago i wanted 300,got it, got used to it.then i wanted 400 got it, got used to it.then i wanted 500 nearly got it, got used to it.i never really wanted 600 but now have it and its great but as dunx says its so smooth with it, i think i could get used to this too.so i dont know where it will stop.maybe when i hit a brick wall i suppose.

Agreed 500 bhp and more important 440lb torque lets not forget the torques is enough for me well as said for a while
told with a rotated kit could be up to 600bhp
You need supporting mods though as power is nothing without control
