Default d1 wheel nuts, throught these were good???

just put a set of d1q wheel nuts on the scoob
they looked ok to me

i tightened them up, and took the car for a spin.
after about 4/5mins, there was what sounded like a creeking from the rear end. stoped to car and had a look, found the nuts were loose?

i tightened them up again, and off again.
5 or so mins, the same sound again.
yep, the wheel nuts again?????

tightened them again, and headed home.
it started again

got home and took them off to find they were really tight???
managed to get them off. from the looks of it the threads were streting. the head was a mess too.

i was under the impresion that these d1 nuts are the strongest wheel nuts out there.

anyone else had this issue at all.
i'm going to contact the place i got them fromn for a complete refund. i've put the old ones back on, and all seems fine again

These nuts are pants. You'll get no luck with the refund either. Check out my post 185 here

Also look at post 194. It is a copy and paste of what I received after asking for a refund. They would only give 80% back!

Warranty is void if you 'installed them'!!!

I hope no one gets hurt with these. Only a matter of time IMO.

I'd go nuts if these were mine !

If it's of any use I have recently bought these, as has a mate and they are really good and slimline.

My thoughts exactly.

[rant]

They're made of ****ING ALUMINIUM

Wheelnuts are supposed to be made out of high tensile steel, the ones on an impreza are probably 12.9 or thereabouts in Japanese. So assuming the D1s are very very strong aluminium, the standard ones are 2.5x stronger.

Queue the next thread wondering why they keep marking them when they show them a socket...

Bull **** tell him, if their not fit for purpose then a full refund will be needed. I bought some from the group buy and although they are soft and have minor marks their not as bad as the pics above. Even though we paid via paypal and I think it was under goods I don't think we are coverd, but if you email paypal and others do the same his paypal account will be shut down.

They advertise them as 7075 aluminium.
Standard ones will be high tensile steel - most OEMs I've had dealings with use 12.9 iirc, I'd guess Subaru used something in this tensile range.

So, aluminium is stronger than high tensile steel

In reality, going off the specs THEY advertise, these have a yield strength about 1/3 of OEM ones.

they still put up 30% stronger than oem nuts too
if anything is sold in this country, there should be standards by law
tyres have, + other parts have to be bs too

If over tightened you can expect it but if you torqued them correctly not good
Hope you get your money back

Are you tightening them at in the right sequence. opposites or going round in a circle checking if they are tight, ie 1 - 7, 11 - 5 etc or 12345 in a circle?
I have a set of the Black throw nuts(28 quid in black) and they are spot on.
