Default Damn the subaru lightweight / thin alloy panels!!!

ive got loads of door dings which are normal for a subaru.. anyways i got another today from some dosey ding bat at asda who opened her door on me while i was in the car.. nice crease on door.. anyway not much i could do so drove home in a huff..

went to a friends to do some work on the car..and we were on his drive.. slight incline.. and the car needed moving a few inches forward.. so instead of starting it.. we thought it should be ok to push..released handbrake..

both pushed from behind.. and the dam boot lid bang in the centre went in as if someone had rear ended me..

luckily my mate had a suction mount to pull it out, and we tried to roll it out from the inside.. although everything looks normal and fine i.e. no dings, from some angles you can see a verticle crease in the boot, like a door ding

i know its my fault in this case but lol i was not expecting it to go in from pushing it.. o well **** happens

you live and learn

panels are steel buddy (except certain bonnets) but pushing in the centre is pushing your luck no matter what they are made out of.
At least you are taking it on the chin fairplay

I popped the bonnet on my 10 minute old bugeye WRX to have a look, then closed the bonnet by pushing it and put a nice dent right above the bonnet catch.

I dropped it to close it from then on LOL

As stated above, all panels with the exception of (some) bonnets are steel. Crap thin steel. Talk of lightweight alloy panels is just myth/repeated nonsense Im afraid.

lol ok thick steel, either way i was shocked at the huge dint it made.. lucky we sorted it straight away..

i dont think its that noticable, no ones pointed it out, its just me knowing it is there and constantly looking at it..

moral of the story: dont push these cars, they dint very easily

R5_GTT_Steve: as for that women at ASDA, she just apologised , it was a crease and i dont want to go through insurance for something that wont cost that much to sort from a dent guy .. she got an earful from me and looked like she was going to cry, mrs just said leave it so i went in a mood
