2.5 hawkeye
what can i do to make it better?what are my options on tuning it?it seems to run out off revs real quick.i heard it needs a bigger turbo,is that true, why did my bug eye seem to pull much better after 5500 rpm?

I fitted the following to my mates 2006 2.5 WRX,
VF34 turbo, walbro fuel pump, spark plugs, green filter, sti intercooler, de-cat.
Andy Forrest mapped 350 bhp / 380 ft lb.
Real nice to drive too.

The problem with the bigger turbo is that you are putting the gearbox at its limit!! I also love the early spool of the TD04.
Mine pulls hard t0 6500 rpm in every gear. The difference in 5th gear with the remap is incredible.
Mine has full decat - milltek
uprated fuel pump
green panel filter
JGM remap
Put it like this my brother has a blob STI PPP and he cant keep up much to my liking

I had a bugeye and before my hawkeye and noticed that the hawk pulled more at lower revs and found the same problem as you, it tailed off very quickly around 5500rpm.
Was told that this was due to the smaller TD04 turbo.
Have since fitted a Blitz NSR, decat downpipe, Green filter,Walbro fuel pump and JGM remap.
Made 289bhp/340lbs on the rollers and it does pull more through the rev range now.
I'm sure you will be happy with the stage 1 mods listed above, a remap to your car as it stands should see you to around 260/290.
But if you want more, ie. 330+ then get a bigger turbo (VF35), injectors and STI topmount.

The standard td04 is too small for the 2.5 engine so runs out of puff at 5000 onwards. A remap gives a lot of mid range punch and will keep some of this to the top end but there is a physical limit to how much air the little td04 can push into the engine and as such it feels like it is running out of oopmh. It will make decent power though at around 280-290 tops.
