Default boot spring

like a few on here i suffer from the high level spioler on my bugeye squeeking/rattling when im driving about, no ive read that Subaru do an uprated boot spring (fitted to STI's as standard) which counter acts the extra weight.

is this true? and if so where can i get one and where does it fit?

thanks

Dealers / breakers....

And it's only to balance the extra weight when you open the boot. Mine squeaks and rattles too.

are right, yeah it makes sence...at the end of the day the spoiler is sat on top of the boot lid isnt it, so nothing is going to stop it. apart from removing it.

I'm not sure it's the spoiler squeaking and rattling, i think it might be the spring itself.

I've never managed to find out exactly what causes the noise with a view to stopping it, I had thought of some lengths of that grey pipe insulation........

The spring doesn't hold it shut, it holds it open.

Try felt or rubber pads under the rubber bump stops if they're not adjustable.
Also try greasing the springs where they're mounted or supported, at theends, the bearing points...
