Fitting a cat back exhaust - would this affect the warranty

If they are at all concerned a good dealer would discreetly ask for the OEM bits to put back on in the event of an IM inspection ! at least that has been my experience. The cynic in me would say it depends on how costly the claim is and whether its in their interests to be difficult.

With IM as they are at the moment I'd not guarantee anything mate.
Logic dictates a cat-back system should not affect your warranty.... but my 330s system removed the 2nd cat totally... did yours?... once you've removed a cat I'm not so certain.

For what it's worth I was thinking of taking out the 2nd cat for a bit more torque, spoke to the dealership and was told it would nullify the warranty .. to be fair I can see their point .. as for changing the centre section and backbox that gets looked over ( dealers discretion as such ) Tho if there was an IM inspection they wouldnt approve of that and nullify the warranty and any claim along with it .. they are severly strict! Everything must be standard/ Subaru .. Even a non-standard airfilter can void any claim as far as IM are concerned! Know this for certain .. you have been warned!

Would the ecu be able to tell if anything has been changed, what I mean is if it went pop with say a turbo back system on, could you put the std system back on and then send it to the dealer for repair, or does the ecu log everything that happens to a car in say a history file which then IM can then check, I mean by logging sensor readings etc?
I remember back in my ford days people used to map their cars and if something went pop they used to throw the original map back on and dealer was none the wiser and broken parts were fixed under warranty.
