Spec C battery query
I have a 2002 Spec C (S202) and am looking for another battery replacement. I have tried a Varta asia battery (as it has the small terminals) and Odyssey PC680 (made up my own terminals) but both have had limited life. The car is not used as an everyday car, and when I can is on trickle charge when not in use.
The Spec C's have smaller terminals and tray. I would like to keep the weight down but want a battery that is more reliable.
Any recommendations on what battery is most suited?
Thanks
Simon

The battery is similar to that of a nissan micra never had reliability issues on a battery in 3 years of ownership, you just have to drive around with your side lights on to keep it charged up more due to the intelligent alternators on these cars, but 2 weeks standing can flatten them (the normal batteries do exactly the same on the standard STI's btw).

My Spec C battery didn't last long as the car's not used over the winter months. I bought a cheap battery (model No 054) from a battery superstore and a Ctek XS800 charger. The Ctek is left on 24/7 365 days a year
That combination has never failed in the past 3 years and the battery is the same size as the original Spec C one.

The Halfords batteries work well - I have the calcium heavy duty one and had been working on the car for over 3-weeks, locking and unlocking doors, lights on, testing stereo etc, but not starting it because I also had the exhaust and intercooler off for upgrades. After 3+ weeks it started first time on it's own charge
