Question

I have just finished cleaning and polishing my car and I am fed up
of a couple of stone chips and one or two scratches making my car
look ugly. I have thought about buying a touch up but I think how
ever hard you try you can not do a good job. I am just woundering
if any one knows of any good companies out there who are able to take these out with out paying for a respray.
Is machine polishing a solution ?

Any ideas would be most grateful ?

My VTS is black and has a few stone chips so the white undercoat really shows. I bought some black polish stuff which came with a chip stick! The chip stick is brilliant, it's a wax that fills the hole and stays in for ages. It's a really cheap and effective option. You'd now struggle to find the chips now unless I said where they were.

Got mine from halfords, "turtle wax" wax stick used it on my missus car and it hid the scratches really well, and only £4!!!

If your car is silver (as mine is) don't bother with the Chipsticks, the 'repair' just looks white and still shows up, although I suppose it still protects the metal somewhat. However if your car is DBM (dark blue as you are a newbie - welcome btw ) as my mum's is, it works a treat, can't find the chips now!
So if your car is a colour that Chipstick works well for, I'd try that first. Either way, it's going to be a lot cheaper than a respray!

Yes Chipstick is the brand name, I think it's from the same people as Colour Magic polish, in fact I think you get a chipstick with said polish now.
Any Halfords or MotorWorld etc will have 'em. It's basically a kids craeon (sp?) in a lipstick holdery thing, with a couple of cloths for cleaning the chip before you apply and the other for rubbing off the excess after. Not all that much for your fiver really, so if you wanna be cheap, borrow an appropriately coloured craeon from the nearest child! That's what I plan to do to try and get a better match for my silver paint.
Pants how easy you get chips isnt it, I had most of my car sprayed only 4 months ago and already I have a couple of new ones.

Editted to ask roughly how much the Chips Away service costs out of interest?
