Default Tracker servicing ?

Can anyone shed some light as to wether tracker retrieve's need servicing ? I have just signed the Tracker in my name and have been told that it was installed into the vehicle in 2003. The annual fee is quite high and dont really want to pay out another £80 service charge. Im not sure if its just a BLAG or really is important. Any help would be great thanks guy's.

Steve.

When I signed up for Tracker the guy said they need serviced every 5 years. I imagine they would need to replace the battery at the very least.

No sarcasm intended, but why dont you phone them and ask what you get for the money?
You dont have to have it serviced to get it in your name. Also, how long are you going to be keeping the car? They still do a one off 'lifetime' ownership fee if you are keeping it longer than 2 to 3 years, then it makes sense to only pay once.

My tracker stopped working last year (3-year old car), obviously I had no idea, but the company phoned me to say they had lost contact with the car and needed to come and check it out. They wanted to come to my house, but I told them I'd meet them at my nearest Subaru dealership to be on the safe side. I am the suspicious type, and with it being related to the security of my Impreza, I didnt want to take any chances! All working fine since then!

I intend to keep the car for a couple of years. The one off cost is around £350!! Quite steep i thought but yeah if you keep it for a long time it pay's. The company told me that it may need a battery replacement, thats about it.

Personally, I'd be inclined to haggle and get them to service it for free; I hate "add-on" charges that give little incentive for a new customer.

Justification being; how can I be sure the money I'm paying them for this service is being wasted on a defective tracker.

I had the same recently when I called for something and they said it needed servicing. At the end of the discussion they issued a test signal that was considered OK (called back the next day) so I didn't bother..

I am having the same issues at the mo my tracker is due to be renewed next month but for the last few months (after the harsh winter) my car battery keeps going flat. checked electrics earths etc can't find the drain but there's a pluse on multi meter Told tracker and they tell me my battery in my tracker is flat but it's not due for a service till next year. They said it will take 10 mins to change battery and want £80 plus membership so got me over a barrel. Tried to get it free as it's not due for service but guy Would not budge lol.

If you look at it a little differently, that £80 covers anything that gets done at that service. Not ideal but at least there are no hidden charges once they get there!
The Tracker is well worth it so pay the service charge and hope you never need it thereafter!
