Sorry if this post is in the wrong area - please advise if it is
I've not been here for a long time... my daughter is 5 now and I sold the P1 before she was born!

Anyhow... I'm looking at getting a WRX Sti - circa 2003 and found this.

The curious thing is it says its a WRX STi but the insurance register and HPi say its a UK300. What is it? I thought UK300s were c2001?
The chap selling says its STi on the log book but I'm getting the fear that its a wrong un!


Really don't want to buy a pup but can't work this out.


Ignore the stickers they'd be coming str8 off... or is that just me?


I want a base car - STi or similar for now to get me back in to it as I've been driving a **** mobile for 5 years. But I'd like to buy at close to 300hp and build on that. Budget is sub £10K for now so rules out any special stuff - is 2003 STi my best bet? I know they have their problems but so has my budget atm - any advice appreciated?

looking at the pictures everything looks the same as my 03 sti but how is he getting 300bhp or as it been remapped as there 265ps standard or does it have the ppp.

no ppp ... 1st question I asked the fella was how was it making 300 :-) and the reply was...
PIPER X FILTER/CAT BACK STAINLESS and that was it. so it's probably not making 300 but that doesn't bother me so much, as I'd have a few quid left in the budget to play with on this one.

what would bother me is if its somehow a UK300 making 215hp. In my paranoid world its not impossible to late reg a UK 300 blob eye and then give it a bug eye front end change? Is it? I don't know! Then you slap a few sti bits here and there and bingo.. stranger things have happened... imagine if you have le have a nicked Sti in the lock up to use for parts! BTW I'm not saying there is anything dodgy about the car or seller. I certainly don't want to bad mouth this guy but its making me twitchy...

just in... he's come back and said it was a Europe import and UK300 on the V5 was a mistake which was rectified at DVLA but not sure how I check that?

He says the chassis starts with GDB which is only for STis???? Anyone?

The GDB code matches the STI, WRX would be GDA

Subaru UK were a bit cheeky with the "300" as most people would expect they have 300 BHP LOL
