remap
what is the usual cost of a remap on my sti 04 blobeye? not really after loads more power just want to make sure its running right as its only doing 18/20 mpg i know this fuel consumption is average for sti but hoping remap can help a little with fuel and also get a little extra power

The thing is here tubbytommy, to remap your car requires an EcuTek licence at the very least. The cost of this is included within your first remap and then stays with the ECU on your car. Nearly all mappers charge approx. £500 and up for a first remap due to the cost of the included license. What they will then discuss with you is cheaper maps thereafter if you are only after small tweaks or only added small mods to the car.
So, you are not modding, you are really concerned about your mpg. It will improve if you have the car remapped but you are going to have to swallow the expensive initial cost.

its up to you which method you choose, both are as good just one cost £££s more, what spec are you running to be near 300 bhp already as you may have a ecutek licence already,
its not a hard job to change the plugs, where about in the country are you? as will this will help locate a mapper, closest to you.

Remap was the best thing i did to my PPP as the prodrive map isn't always the best on some cars. Better on fuel, but most importanty so much smoother to drive.
There are lots of good mappers and some if not most of the best ones will come to you.

About £500 ish, it was from a group buy on here and it was by Simon aka Jolly Green Monster. He has his own website but posts on here too, he is renowned as one of the best and i'll definitely use him again. As mentioned once you get a license it's a fair bit cheaper.

you could sell your ppp ecu on ebay for about £150/£250 and get a standard one and put the change towards your remap.

I'm sure you will have to either get an ecutek remap with the PPP ecu, open source isnt an option as it will be locked already(I might be wrong there, best check with someone who knows what they're talkin about). Either way your best bet will be to sell the PPP ecu and buy a standard ecu and have that mapped , open source or ecutek.

It is not locked John.
I have mapped lots of PPP, prodrive and previously ecuteked cars without issues
Have you made any modifications to the car ?
Power and fuel economy can be done quite easily for you tommy - even in std form the PPP car can be improved very significantly.
I charge £350 for a full custom remap.

no its standard apart from green air filter and prodrive sport cat and back box which i believe is part of ppp. ii have no intention of modding either as its my everyday family car(has kids seats in back and tellytubby sun shades), £350 sounds great what power figures would i be looking at after remap mine is roughly 300 now.
