Default Wheel Balancing advice

WRX-s running prodrive GT1, at 60 MPH its fine 70 80 my hands slightly shake, annoying more than anything.

they were balanced by kwik fit and i watched as we did it and all were ok.

Ive tried various diff Kwik Fits HIQ etc but all give me diff results with these wheels, They all look ok and spin correct with no defects.

is there a specific way to do them Quickfit use 2 weights anybody any steer or anywhere i can take it in leeds to haave it done right?

I was at KT greens yest but they couldnt blaance had they had lost the nut thing.

Cheers Or is this how it is on 4wd at 70 80 slight vibes

No, it should be shake free. If the wheels are balanced ok, it could be something else causing the problem, steering/suspension play, worn track rod ends, anti-roll bar bushes, brake disc run-out etc.

hi, my 2004 wrx does the same.its only just noticable at 70 80. ever since i had my prodrive wheels fitted. had 3 sets of tyes and its allways been there, though if i put slighy higher pressure in its totally gone. bit of a mystery to me but if its only very slight dont keep wasting time/money ballancing, try a bit more pressure, jason

just another thought maybe the locking wheel nuts could cause a very slight imbalance.

All good Points.

Just a quick one then, the cars only 4 month old so track rods etc, im unsure if its them

BUT is Brakes Trackrods Bearings etc were bad, would that not show across the board other not just 70 to 80.

What Pressure u put in em J ?

Im currently on 33

Are you certain you're getting a full dynamic balance?

Quickest and easiest for the fitters to set the equipment to static-balance mode - which should cover vertical balance issues.

Dynamic balance is required to address "wobble" balance issues - typically you'll need weights on both inner and outer edges.

There should be no wobble - simple.
Swap the fronts to the rears and then re try.
Failing that then probably another issue around the wheel station area.

If you cannot get it right then find someone/somewhere who can balance them on the car.

it also could be a little play in the bearings or even a rim that is not quite true

As mentioned above swop back to front to see if you still have the same symptoms.

larger wheels with lower profile tyres increase the need for the balancing to be spot on - less give in the sidewall dosent help.

It will just be the balancing - take them to an independant tyre specialist - ask for them to be balanced to zero. Most kwik fit and the likes just do it to within 10g as this is not normally enough to bother a regular car and owner.

I used to have a lotus elise and they are soooo sensitive to balancing - took a few attempts to get them spot on too. Aside from being annoying it dosent do your suspension system any good...
