Question 400BHP & Still MOT friendly

Ok gentlemen ive got a Blobeye 2004 sti type UK no mods yet but now looking to start modding her very soon like the title says looking to get to about the 400bhp mark and still keeping it MOT friendly can it be done and what would be the best way to go about it.

Any advice would help.

Thanks TAM1981.

Hello mate,

My car passed it's last MOT running just over 400bhp with my Sports Cat.
Only advisory was "loud exhaust" as I have a RCM Team Ice system.

The only issue is choice of cat. Any other modification needed for 400 bhp shouldn't compromise the MOT test criteria. Most opt for a decat with a yearly swop over!

Sports cat in the downpipe will pass, but there's garages i've used near you that are "friendly" on the decat front.

I'd recommend a Enginetuner S206 turbo - Awesome power and driveability!

With what info ive seen so far the route to go would possibly be the following upgrades

Sportscat exhaust from turbo back 2.5 or 3”(keeping it MOT friendly)

Exhaust headers flow matched uppipe
Walbro uprated fuel pump
High flow panel filter
Turbo md321T (simon JMG got good results with it on his newage)
Uprated injectors (if needed i think the sti ones are ok to 400bhp)
Custom remap (Ecutek)

Any other info on this would be helpful

Thanks TAM1981

Budget for a clutch..... at 360 ft.lb's mine cried enough !

dunx

P.S. 3" system will make it easier to pass 400, but you'll get close with a 2.5" if it needs to be quiet. IMHO
