It will still physically plug into your car as all MY99-00 ECUs, whether UK/Euro or Japanese market are the same hardware-wise. Whether it will start, and how it will run if it does, is a separate issue.
You may be looking at a badly written advert and the ECU actually was fitted to a UK car, in which case it will plug in and your car will start.
However if it is for a Japanese market import and the remap was done on JDM base code, it will connect physically to your car, but the engine won't start - at least unless you alter the wiring configuration in the connectors to match the immobiliser-less Jap configuration.
All of that said though, if this car has a custom EcuTeK map on it, even if you can get it to run, you will need the map checked and tweaked immediately in order to ensure that it is running safely on your own engine.
On this basis if you are looking to buy a secondhand TeK ECU, it only really saves you the licensing cost on a remap - and then only if it has a full open licence on it. You shouldn't regard it as a drop in "plug and go" replacement - the PPP fulfils that role.
