Both great conditon and well look after
What would you go for and why?

OK I am going to go against the flow here and say the RB5.
It is true that the P1 is probbaly the more valuable of the two, but not by much these days as they are both limited editions.
Personally I prefer the colour of the RB5, the four doors is a nice to have and the shell is an STI shell with the solid rear cross member rather than the less rigid UK version that allows the rear seats to fold.
There are a lot of P1s for sale right now, more than there are good RB5s and they don't seem to be as reliable (less important as both of these have been rebuilt).
If the RB5 is in good nick and has a healthy 360bhp then it would be my choice.

I might be wrong but i think the RB5 is a tunned uk lump where as the P1 in an import sti tunned for uk fuel and suspension set up for our roads. P1 every time. The only problem is it seems that every other classic scoob nowadays has a copy of your splitter

Don't know where you get your info from, but I have a P1.
Rear seats don't fold and has a brace behind the rear seats where the rear bulkhead would be, which I'm guessing is what you're calling the cross member.
4 doors are for kids, dogs and golf clubs......sorry if that offends 90% of you here! I've always had to have the 2 door.
Thanks
Bo

P1. 2 door scoobies just do it for me, following my first flirt with the STI Type R..
I would say though that I consider the RB5 another connoseurs Subaru, not an obvious choice but one of the best Subaru's built in terms of overall poise and balance, fitting considering its Ricky Burns' tribute.
Always going to be a judgement call tbh...

If that RB5 has 360bhp through a standard UK box, take the P1 and be happy! Also the RB5 will no longer have the balanced chassis/power delivery which endears it to its drivers.
I have neither 2 nor 4 doors so consider my opinion neutral (unless you want the stiffest shell of them all)

My point was being that the p1 lump will have a lot more bennefits than a RB5 lump as standard i.e forged pistons, better turbo etc.
If both are tuned to about 350bhp i'd much rather one that has a gain of about 60 - 70bhp than one that has been stretched to take an additional 120bhp possibly on standard internals.

Cheers for that lads
Kind of leaning towards the P1 now. This patricular P1 has a little less BHP but more torque ao i think it will be more aggressive. I think the main differance between the two is the 2 door and the 4 door aspect as when they are standard they are the same weight and dimensions its just the P1 (standard has more BHP). In this case that is a little irrelavent as they are both tuned and running similar BHP.
Just got to make a decsion and stick to it or i will regret either one i buy :-)

I have never owned an RB5 but I do have a P1 that has some mods. Must admit I do think the RB5 's look good and the colour does set them off. All I can say is ever since I have owned my P1 they do seem to generate a lot of interest with both Scooby and no Scooby owners.
They also are a great platform for modifying.

I don't know why people say a 4 door impreza is easier with kids. I find the 4 door really hard to get my son in, the doors are so small you end up holding the kid at arms length and sort of lifting them up and under (ducking their head away from the hand rail) and into a car seat, not the best. I actually found it far easier to hold my boy and step into the car with him on my old (3 door) type r impreza.
