Bought a car from a fool
Ok so I am been polite by saying he is a fool but I don't want to say anything to get me any unwanted emails from admin people on here.
I am really happy with the subaru I have bought, just having a right problem with the guy a bought it from. Generally when you buy or sell a car you send the v5 back to DVLA for keeper change in a few days.
Not this guy, despite making contact with him, he keeps giving me excuses that he is too busy. I mean come on, I am a contact centre manager so I deffinatley know the meaning of busy but putting a letter in a post box is not hard.
I bought the car over two weeks ago but he just will not send the keeper change forms. I have been in touch with the dvla who weren't very helpful at all. I have the tear of strip and a copy of the v5 as I requested when I bought.
But does anyone know the process on what I need to do to get the car in my name. The car will need taxing in the next month so I want this sorted.
Have a cash receipt etc.
Cheers

This shouldnt affect your car tax, anyone can tax a car not just the owner. All you need is insurance and the MOT im pretty sure, so just tax away. Save yourself the hassle of the ever helpful DVLA and just give the bloke a few more weeks to post the form off.
If your insured on the car then just carry on enjoying it.

Beter still down load form from DVLA web site put all details down, if you have green slip put that in and send off, if you do not have green slip send 25.00pounds and about 20m days later new v5

When you tax it at a post office they will take the green slip of the log book and send it off for you, your new log book will be issued and sent out to you in due course (normally takes about 2/3 weeks) so it shouldn't be a problem.

Mate i had the same issue when i brought my first scooby. what i did was go to post office and get v62 application form. i filled that in and got the needed details from the car. i.e vin number. then it gives you an option on the form that you says
"I bought the vehicle from the previous keeper or motor trader and I have not received a V5C yet."
This way you will not encounter any cost. i have linked the form from the dvla site below. so alternatively you can just print it from your computer and post it. i will also advise that when you send the form. pay a bit extra and have it signed for, this way you know they recieved it as you have tracking number. it normally takes 10 working days to get your V5C back
V62 Form Link here.
Hope that helps.

I know my comment won't be of any help now but in hindsight you should have had the log book when you bought the car, that way you would have known it had been sent off etc. God knows why he hasn't sent it off!

'Too busy' to post a letter off is such a lame excuse, so lame in fact that I'd wonder if everything's legit...I hope for your sake it is mate. At the very least the guy's a to**er!
