I know its 2.2 mate was just wondering why more have not fitted stroker kits to them then making them 2.35 and s*ite more power surely its a bloody good idea on a closed deck 2.2????
closed deck is the area round the piston come in open, semi closed and closed.
Closed being the strongest as holds the piston stronger truer minimalising movement during high stress situation ie high power output

Mate I think most people who own them don't mess arou d with them too much as it in my opinion takes the value out of the 22b as they are such sort after and all that

Exactly what ste said is right if u want 2.35 and wide arches get type r and get engine built ...

If these are standard and never had paint and low owners and miles 25-30k is about right especially uk versions ..

the blocks are bloody expensive to get hold of as well if you just want to build them in a different car.

I did here that the 2.2 block is something like £3k and that's before you forge the internals, so it's not the cheapest thing to do but practicly bullet proof.

you can use legacy one too i think but yes 2.2 closed deck costs a bomb.... surley a hard as nails engined 22b with power that pushes the chasis too the limit and beyond if your right foots too heavy would be a real ultimate car plus it could be returned to original if i ever wanted to sell???

Legacy block albeit a ej22 it's not the correct or the same block that is in a 22b, the chassis will be stronger than any other impreza as far as I know as I imagine it has more welds etc but there are plenty of high powered imprezas out there that don't have chassis issues etc. Yes you could mod it and put it back to standard if you kept hold of all the bits in a dry and safe place but I ask you what is the point of lowering the resale value of what is a classic car in my opinion which if you pick up a low millage clean example with full history will only go up in price as some like yourself will mod them and sell
them on as they do not keep the original parts. If you really want a high powered impreza if I were you I would by a v4 type r and speak to someone like the clinic and have them fit a 22b kit pop in a 2.5 for value for money a sopping turbo and supporting mods ie injectors, fmic etc and for less money then a tidy 22b you will have one with big power that you can abuse and sell when you have had enough.

Even better if you could find a type r with a 6 speed or ppg box already to save the hassel of the gearbox

American spec Legacy's came with a EJ22 closed deck block (basically the same as 22b engine). I can't claim to be an expert, its just that I'm watching a build at the moment using these. That is to be a 2.35 stroker using the 2.5 rods.

sc dont really req the 2.5 mate not compaired to a 2.35 and if i got the 22b i wouldnt be going for any cheep options
it would stay in my garage till i passed away thats why i was asking about the engine as i would want more as we always do ha ha
the 22b always seemed like the chassis could handle more power so why would a 500 hp 22b be a worse car than a 280 hp 22b ? not in my book anyway and i would prob put a six speed box in too lol
as it would get driven and used on sunday jounts and trackdays....
