Default Deposit down on new STi ;-)

Hi all,

So finally got a loan today and have put a deposit down on a MY06 STi. It seems too cheap for the milaege it has done but I can't wait. The last Impreza I owned was a WRX Bugeye in 2006. Never driven an STi and haven't even test drove the one I am buying saturday. Just hope I like it. It comes with Prodrive springs and exhaust but no PPP which is a shame. Suppose I'll get it remapped at some point. Heres the car: Not my postcode just a made up one

There are no bargains at Subaru Main Dealers ..... I hope you got at least 10% for cash?

The STi's are an aquired taste, the drive will knock your fillings out - many cannot live with them as an everyday car.

How, and why, have you put a deposit on a car you haven't driven yet?

Confused ............ but I hope it all goes well

I've looked on Pistonheads and seen nothing near that for £15,000. I have just sold an Z4M Coupe so I'm sure it will not be anywhere as harsh as that. That was just raw power and handling. I just hear so many good things about the STi that I can't see there being any problems with it and I'm sure I will like how it drives (hopefully) Its only done 12,000 miles too so should be like new

The salesman said if I'm not happy I can have the deposit back. He just didn't want to be messed about.

How would you be messing him about by not paying a deposit?

Anyway, salesmen are paid to be messed with!

Good luck with it ..... I would be concerned if it is, indeed, cheap (Subaru Main Dealers know what they have and what it's worth).

What can be wrong with it? Dealers can't in take dodgy cars can they? It must be HPI clear and it comes with a years warranty so can't see what the problem would be.

I don't want to concern you at all, far from it.

Just I cannot imagine paying a deposit on a car I haven;t seen or driven ..... and I cannot imagine a Main Dealer selling a car too cheap - you do know that there is money which they will knock off .... don't you?

I genuinely hope it all works out .... but why would thay sell a car cheap? (if it is cheap, I don't know)

Looks awesome mate.

I wouldn't worry too much about it as its from a Subaru dealer. They wouldn't sell on a rubbish car as it would damage their reputation.

All the best and let's us know how you get on!

Dealer or no, i would still do a hpi check. In this day and age there is alot of dodgy dealers. Nice car.... Do you know how many owners it has had...

It is the Traders responsibility to sell a HPi clear car ...... so, a HPi should not be needed - however, you can ask to see the HPi (they should show you it).

Agreed F4la, i'd always hpi check any secondhand car i was buying.

Just being from a main dealer i would have thought it would be a mechanically sound car and well serviced before you'd get it.

Maybe its not cheap, its just that the one ones for £15000 on Pistonheads seem to have higher mileage. I will be the 3rd owner. The bloke who owned it before had it for just over 2 years and just traded it in for a new STi Hatchback. Its just had its MOT and its 30,000 mile service even though it only has 12,000 miles on the clock but its 3 years old.

That looks just like my STI, only mine has the PPP as well. You will love it mate, it's got some pulling power! And I paid a lot more than that for mine when I bought it a year ago from a main Subaru dealer.

Cheers fella. Really wished I had the PPP too. Any ideas how a remap will cost?

It was only £100 deposit so no big stiffy. If I don't like the test drive I will get deposit back. Will look into a remap in a few months. Does it still feel quick standard?

yeah you will notice a difference over your old wrx, i aint a fan of the 2.5 sti tbh i would much prefer a jdm version. infact if you look in the for sale section on here there is a type 25 for sale which is going at a good price at the moment!

Yes I will give it a year then look at a remap. Might be tempted to change the Prodrive exhaust for a Ninja II if its too quiet.

I do like the Type25 in the link but just want the Hawkeye as I really like the front and Xenons

Finally got one eh, if your still living in the same place as you were a while back I'll look out for you.

I'm in a silver hatch SWTI now and loving the move up from a WRX.

Hi Arron. Yes mate still in the same place but in a house now. Seen you in the STI . Looks really nice. Hopefully getting it tomorrow. Wouldn't mind a look in yours if you wouldn't mind.

Cheers Scatty. I'm hoping I feel the same way as soon as I drive it. Will post up some pics soon.

Yes I'm loving the new car. What an all round package. Wish the brakes were a little better but seems Subaru struggle with powerful brakes. Will look into some braided hoses.

Hi Renny. Top car mate. Well looked after I'll be keeping it the same. Don't do too many miles myself so will probably be one of the lowest mile hawkeyes on the road in a couple of years.
