Huge thanks to Autotecnica Buxton Subaru Service Centre
I would just like to give a massive thanks to Adam at Autotecnica in Buxton for the huge amount of work he has done on my car recently. I have been taking my cars to Adam for about 4 years now for general servicing and light modifications and have always been extremely happy with the service he provides.
About 9 months ago I decided to sell my WR1 and bought a highly modified Hawkeye STI as I felt this would be more cost effective than tuning the WR1.
Anyway, it didn't end up going to plan and I ended up having to get the engine rebuilt.
It took me about 1 second to decide that Adam was the only man for the job and luckily Adam agreed to rebuild the engine.
Once the engine had been removed it was stripped and the block was sent away to a specialist to be measured, it was decided to rebore the block to accept Cosworth 99.75mm pistons. While this was progressing Adam was busy sorting the heads and mirror polishing the APS intercooler hard pipes, he also found time to fit me a new rear door to replace a previously badly repaired door and a titanium STI strut brace both parts which I had managed to find from an accident damaged Spec C type RA.
When the blocks returned Adam carefully assembled the engine and fitted ACL race bearings and Cometic head gaskets. While refitting the engine he tidied up all the wiring and plumbing and relocated and replumbed the return to sump breather as it had previously been pretty ineffective.
Finally the car was ready and when I picked it up the engine bay looked like this.
The engine was gently run in using mineral oil and a few weeks later it was returned to be checked over and filled with Millers fully synthetic oil. Over the next few weeks Adam carried out more work on the car including fitting a decent sound system and some Perrin chassis enhancements. The engine has now covered 2000 miles and hasn't missed a beat or used any oil whatsoever.
One of the few services Adam doesn't provide is mapping so I decided to get the car mapped by Paul Blamire at Zen Performance. This turned out to be an excellent decision. Although the previous engine had been mapped by a well known mapper I was never completely happy with the way it drove, last Friday Paul spent about 6 hours mapping my car both on the road and on the dyno and the end result was a very healthy 464 bhp, pretty impressive for an MD321t running V-Power with no additives but more importantly the car now drove the way I always hoped it would.
I really cannot thank Adam enough for the fantastic quality of his work and his extremely reasonable prices and I would recommend his services to anyone. So if you want any work doing on your Subaru from an oil change to a full rebuild give Autotecnica a try, you wont regret it.
