Default Buying advice :-)

Firstly, hello . Secondly, I`m thinking of migrating from FTO ownership to Scooby ownership......at last. This all depends on how much I`ll get for my Cadbury sharesave schemes when I have to cash them in .

Ok, to the point, my budget will be about 6k.....hopefully.... and after much deliberation I`ve decided on a WRX (assuming the running costs would be a little cheaper than an Sti). My question is, will I be able to get a low mileage blobeye version, FSH, 2003 or 2004, well kept one (preferably with the Prodrive Pack and an owners club one cos I know us owners club members cherish our p+j ) for that sort of cash or am I dreaming? Thanks.

I personally think for that sort of cash you'll have to travel and get one with over 100000 miles on it it. For that sort of cash you could get a very well love sti v6 with thousands spent on it. Sorry. Just my opinion though

No probs. pal. Just testing the water cos I`ve seen a few on the usual suspects, Pistonheads, Autotrader and fleabay for around that money but don`t really know if I`d be buying a good one.

6k should get you a nice lowish mileage 03/04 wrx, it may not have the PPP fitted though but you need to keep an eye on PistonHeads.com :: Speed Matters or the autotrader, just watch out for seriously overpriced examples as people think that at 6-7 years old they are worth 7+k

hello and welcome to scooby heaven i bought a 2005 wrx wagon for 6k with 112k on the clock but mine was one owner from new and full subaru history including both cambelts 12 months warranty and 6 months tax and full test. There is nothing wrong with her at all drives as she should and pulls like a train and its standard apart from the exhaust which is just a 3 inch system which i cant find a brand on it but if it was me i would get an sti even if it means saving more cash its worth the wait

Would an Sti cost cost much more to run though (mpg., servicing etc.) Don`t imagine 300+bhp would return much mpg Don`t get me wrong, I`ve never owned an economical car but don`t really want to be filling up something that`s only gonna give me 17 mpg (currently average about 25). Cheers.

I ended up buying a 2003 STi PPP with 56,000 on the clock and I love it to bits....apart from the fuelling problem . Pics to follow.

STi not much more expensive to run in my experience. Budget for 20 mpg unless mainly motorway (then say 23 mpg). FWIW I too would get the STi (having had both). BHP not always directly related to consumption BTW e.g. an STi mapped to 340 bhp can have a (slightly) better economy than the std 265 bhp.

At the moment I`m getting about 18 - 19 mpg no matter how old ladyish I drive and 24 on a run down to my girlfriends in Kent (233 miles each way) . It`ll run much better after the remap though and I`ll have more horses too .............I hope!!!
