Default Opinions please!

Hi guys, FINALLY sold my FTO and looking to buy another scooby. I'm quite fussy and want either white or black, roughly 1997-2000 (I prefer the classic shape) and looking to spend between 4 and 6 k depending on what i can get for the money!

Could you have a look at these options and give me some opinions as I'm a bit out of touch! Cheers guys, much appreciated!

I kinda like the look of the last one, just unsure about dropping from an STI to a WRX. Is there a massive difference? Any advice or info would be gratefully received

5k for a wrx with 19" rims and 90k on the clock no way

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1685322.htm

no sign of mapping for uk fuel and been driven for two years on our fuel, would put me off

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1696165.htm

looks ok, would like to know who mapped it, but 6k for a 11 year old car little over priced in my mind would like to pick it up for 5 but thats just me

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1688546.htm

not the best written ad in the world, no details never understood why people put no time in to selling, so might be worth the right questions being asked but again no mapping stated so you are looking at 1k on a new ecu and map to get rid of the maf, all my opinion

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1547662.htm

for me you say you want an sti so dont settle for less or if like me you will regret it and always wished you bought the sti. also for me the sti is better spec'd out f the box

think ther was a guy on here selling a sti 5 with full AST kit and few choice mods for the 5k mark if that is your budget think he posted as loki, best of luck

Looks like mine may be up a little cheap at £3750 going by those prices! I thought I was being a bit cheeky with my price as I don't really want to sell it and the wife does, but going by some of those prices, maybe not

i liked this bit

has the redtop Sti engine with lots of power potential as the heads/cams can flow 500bhp.

as long as you have spent 10-20k on the rest to get it to do it. just shocks me how little effort people go to to write an ad to sell their PRIDE and JOY. out of them all this is not a bad price compared to the black one as you know there will be wiggle room to knock them down so maybe another 500 quid off if your lucky. might be worth an email asking the right questions and a trip to go see it if the response come back right.

This looks good for the money. Already has the simtek and a few other bits. Seems done sensibly rather than big power from a few mods.

Thanks for all the info and opinions guys, think I'm just gonna have to ask a few questions and go and see a few.

Am I right thinking that 99-00 models have a facelift front bumper? If so, would it be possible to fit a facelift bumper to an older version?

Yeah that one is mine.

Im going to place the ad on here this weekend once i get some new pics. Those pics are before BC.

I need to take my private plate off and put on my other private plate on for sale. Do i need to wait for a new V5 to arive before i can sell it? This might be a wee spanner in my plans.

I too was looking for a white one. Put an offer down on one which was rejected. I then went out to look at a silver one as the money was burning a hole in my pocket. Soon as i drove it i was sold. it was a million times better than the "fresh imports" id had tried. Compromised on the colour for quality. Glad i did too.

Yes the facelift front bumoper fits no problem. It's a popular mod for the classic. after 97 and poss some 96 you should also have the facelift bonnet, grille and headlights. The 99-00 should have crystal headlights iirc and also in the 99-00 you'll have the facelift dash. This will fit in the earlier cars but is a reasonable about of work.

Ok cool, thanks mate. Not too fussed about the dash but i definately prefer the facelift fron ends and lights so that's good to know! Couldn't find anywhere that sells them that actually says they'll fit though?

You should ideally wait for the v5 as I personally wouldn't hand over my hard earned without it.

Mmmm. I turned down a £3k offer on mine over the phone the other day. Was it you?
