the price lol no on a serious note solaris has active knock control but if im right simtek has this software avalible soon you can control dccd through the solaris anti lag and launch control are built in to solaris where on simtek you have to pay extra for these and as you say you can have 8 maps instead of 2
dont hold me to this but im sure the solaris has a slightly faster prosesor as i could be wrong but one of the mappers will be along soon to shed some more light on the subject

never known any of the lads to have the solaris...been hearing simtek to much but after the convo with mark i found out about the 8 maps which i think is incredible + i think i might get better mpg than my yaris on 95 ron map haha
but yes alot of people might go for simtek as it has most features like the solaris without putting a even bigger hole in ur pocket

It all depends on your budget mate new simtek comes with active knock control. Are you really going to need 8 maps? If you feel you need 8 maps then fair enough solaris it's is then. I can't knock either of them as they both have great features solaris will have much more features and I think it's 32x32 which would allow for a better map I'm running around 500 and that's on simtek with no issues I have two maps one for meth and v power the other for vpower only. Either ecu is a massive improvement over the oe ecu good luck what ever one you go for

budget will be 1000+ i might just go for solaris as it has more option and more maps just incase in future i might go for over 400 and still have option of high/low 99ron,99+meth i no the simtek is 24x24 but what does that mean and how does that compare with the solaris figure 32x32?

haha aladdin i like the name simtek aswell to be fair i would rather pay few hundred less and get some injectors then again if solaris is better then i would have to fork out even more for injectors haha

Motec are just way too expensive. If you consider that Solaris comes standard with quite a few of the features that you have to pay extra for on a Motec it just doesn't seem like a viable option.

It isnt called Solaris anymore Syvecs is the name now.
I have Syvecs (Solaris) on my own car and have used it for the last year - it is a brilliant piece of kit and so flexible that it can do anything and cope with any configuration, any hardware changes, almost any external inputs such as diff control, wideband, oil pressure, oil temp, egt, g sensors ... the sky really is the limit. The 8 maps are also great and the datalogging is out of this world. For some / a lot of people this can be considered overkill though.
I have also installed and mapped Simteks and they are a very capable ecu, similar is some ways to Syvecs(Solaris) but is slightly more basic in its approach. This doesn't quite give you the flexibility but it is a cracking solution and a really good ecu to live with on a daily driver and/or track car. When the full on knock control is there in the next couple of weeks it will really be a fit and forget.
The 24x24 versus 32 by 32 has virtually no impact to you as an owner - it is only really giving the mapper more flexibility to set things up tighter and more precisely. Having said that both the 24x24 and 32x32 are far more precise than the std ecu and that ecu is very good.

that sums it up im going for the solaris as said by the expert dynamix "similar is some ways to Syvecs(Solaris) but is slightly more basic in its approach." so at the moment the knock control isnt programmed on the ecu?
