Dont quote me on this as i know nothing about powder coating, but i heard last week from a very reliable source that powdercoating is very bad for wheels.
It weakens them considerbly because of the baking process.
They tested various wheels before and after the process and took Xrays and there were micro fractures all over the wheels afterwards.
Also there were many circumstances of the wheels having a knock down a pothole and them completly disintigrating (just the spokes left)
Anyway...dont shoot me down as only what ive heard....but i trust the source.

I paid £35 a wheel and they did a top job. £140 all in. I had to take tyres off but that only cost me a tenner to have all 4 stripped.

IMHO OE alloys done right are fine, mine cost £100 the set, and they are still O.K., and they are my "track" wheels so have seen some abuse....

I know of two people who have had after-market alloys fail, done by a different company !

Not all alloy's are constructed in the same way (ageing process, heat treat process etc etc) or from the same material (6061?) & to state that powder coating wheels will do damage is a bit irresponsible imo ...especially if they're selling something
