Please help
Hi
Ive just bought an 05 scooby but know very little about cars, ive always wanted one cos of the looks and how fast they are. Its a standard 225bhp but im looking to get it slightly quicker but dont want to spend loads on it already. Ive got about £350 extra to spend and was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to spend it to get the bhp up a bit. Bearing in mind im useless with cars so the £350 would have to include taking it to a garage and getting whatever is suggested fitted as well.
Its been listed as having pro drive on it but im not sure what that is, can anyone tell me please.
Also it was accident damaged and could do with some new front and rear lights fitted, anyone got any ideas how much these would cost and what are the best lights to put on that improve the looks of it (any pics of yours with them on would be great)
The guy i bought it off says i should de cat it for an extra 40 bhp what does that involve and is it legal?
Sorry about this cos i sound like a complete drongo but im just no good with cars
Cheers

a turbo back decat exhaust will see you pushing around 270bhp but you will need some other mods to go with it ie uprated fuel pump and a decent panel filter...then you will need to have your car remapped. you will be looking around £1000 to do it maybe abit less.
on your budget ide suggest some suspension mods to begin with.. better springs and rear adj anti roll bar for starters. some say the anti roll bar is one of the best mods you can do to improve the handling

MG ZR and an impreza are like night and day mate..... get it mapped and youll have a smile as big as a cheshire cat... dont compare a rover to a subaru please!
i fitted the above mods to my bugeye and had it remapped. it went from 215bhp to 275bhp

Name Changed!!!
I asked this in my other thread ( Breasts, Bum and Va jay jay) but it was removed. I will ask again, apologies if you have already answered it.
Someone mentioned to get a re map but then it would faild its MOT so what do i have to have done at the same time as the re map to make it pass?
Ive decided i will have to up my budget and get.
Roll bar
De cat turbo exhaust
Re map
Is there any order i should get this in or doesnt it matter?

Ok thanks for everyones help and imput and also abuse lol
one last thing, It was sold as having a pro drive kit on the car, which he told me was factory fitted. When i came to insure it it came back as a 225bhp model so it cant have the pro drive kit on as im guessing that would be running at more than 225 so how can i tell if its really got the kit or not?
Thanks

Fella you should have at least a certificate with details of the PPP, if not contact Prodrive with you chassis number and they should be able to tell you some information.

It's not a 100% check, but:
1) If your car has a single round exhaust with 'Prodrive' on the tip and not a twin pipe exit
2) Under the bonnet, below the intercooler at the front, there is a short pipe. A standard one is black plastic. The Prodrive one is blue with 'Prodrive' on it.
If your car has a Prodrive pack on it, it will be around 260bhp. It wouldn't really be worth spending a grand getting it up to 270bhp although it would drive a bit better.
I'd agree with getting a Whiteline rear anti-roll bar with droplinks. Fitted, you are looking at about £250 tops. This will transform the car.
It you fit a decat pipe, you will fail an MoT unless you put your old cat back on for the test each year. This takes 2hrs + at a garage.

not entirely sure wether or not the Y pipe comes with an 05 ppp, i may be wrong , but it is not on 06 for sure. as for decat well it depends who you see for your mot. considering the whiteline arb and droplinks myself at the moment but tbh i think the best way, done and dusted, is the powerstation option £469 + vat, but that includes fitting/labour and a full geo set up , PowerStation i already have the eibach springs fitted.
