there is no catch can or anything like that just standard i think......i checked the oil yesterday morning and it was full then last night and it was empty,i have noticed some oil coming from where the dump valve blows off and from the hose that goes from the manifold to the intercooler but someone on here said a catch can would sort this out....my last scoob never used oil like that ,i done about 10 runs up the strip though but am now obviously a bit worried as to why its supped all the oil......

take the turbo off and check intercooler and pipes ect for oil should be easy enough to see if it is passing oil as intercooler and pipes will have alot in! just diconect pipes if u want prob easyer than taking off turbo

Hi
Dont want to give you bad news but mine started with oil spray from the DV and within a week engine failure.
I thought it could be turbo seals too, but the symtoms are the same as piston/ring failure. You need to do some checks first.
-Any smoke on boost when accelerating? Wont do it by revving, needs to be under load ie driven down the road preferably someone watching
-Engine running. Take the oil cap off, and if smoke is coming out then things arent good. It should blow air out but not anything smokey.
-Take the breathers out of the air inlet, bung the holes and rev the engine. Shouldnt be any smoke like the oil cap.
-Smell the oil in the sump, use the dipstick. If it smells like petrol/sweet then thats petrol getting passed the pistons and into the sump.
-Take intercooler off to see how much oil has been collected. Mine was like this (remember my engine was fooked)
Then a compression test at a mechanics to confirm ring/piston failure (i didnt get to this point)
Dont know what turbo your car has. Mine is a TD05 16G and can be had 2nd hand for about £100
Hope its nothing serious for ya, but seen as mine started with the dumpvalve i thought i should share my experience

I know lol. Best of luck with it.
But like i said the symtoms are the similar to turbo seals. As in the oil coming from the dumpvalve.
The main ones for piston/ring failure are petrol in the sump and a compression test. You could skip everything i said and just take it for a compression test, as that is the only true way of finding out, supposedly some really experienced specialists can tell on tickover!
ps you can also have your turbo rebuilt, i was going to buy a cheap second hand one put that on and send mine to be rebuilt, then switch them back over and sell on the 2nd hand one.
What car is it? any mods?

It really shouldnt, id advise getting a compression test as soon as possible!
You really want to avoind starting the engine, because if the oil is contaminated
then you run the risk of knackering the crank bearings too!
I wouldnt be too worried yet as like you said no smoke on boost ect just the oily
DV. So could be a case of needing a catch can, but dont try this first.
Knowing what i know now, i would be taking it to one of the named specialist on here.
Or at the very least a garage for a compression test.
