Bought Turbo But Has It Got A Problem?
I have bought a used Td04 turbo to replace the broken one on my bugeye. The question i have is. Is is the turbine (dont know if this is the correct word) supposed to be slightly stiff when you try spinning it with your finger?
There is no play in it and has not been used on a car for about 8months but was working fine be for it was taken off.
Thanks

i have span a few turbos with my fingers. in general that are quite stiff to spin. as long as they spin freely, the turbo should be ok.

Thank you for the replies.
I can turn it freely and there is no play.
But when you guys mention spin do you mean being able to spin it and then the turbine carrys on spining on its own?
Because i can not do that with mine, i can only turn it.
Thanks

The TD04 is a non-roller bearing turbo and doesn't spin like a bike wheel but should't have any play..which is the real problem..
The turbine wheel is very light (which is why it spins up so quick) so doesn't have much mass when you spin it with your fingers.
It also relies on an oil feed to keep it lubricacated.
I'd see how it performs when fitted
