Default What do you think to this Sport Special?

Been looking at a few cars and I have seen this on ebay. I know its NA and not very quick etc but my wife really likes it but she can't afford a turbo.

2001 SUBARU IMPREZA SPORT SPECIAL AWD YELLOW LIMITED on eBay (end time 09-Jan-10 17:44:44 GMT)

Its quite cheap for a sport special and it all sounds good except the number of owners? Am I missing something here?

I might make an offer and if accepted its quite a trek for me on the train to pick it up so am unlikely to come home empty handed but other than the owners it seems good - too good? Specials do have a higher asking price.

looks nice, things to look for in cashmere yellow is paint imperfections as its a bugger to match the colour, it may have had no paint which is great but if its ever been touched up I will bet it will stick out like a sore thumb.

just noticed something else. on the advert it says mileage is 54k on the clocks its just over 50k so maybe the pics were taken 4k miles ago? worth checking or it could be a typo.

how well do the 2litre non-turbo ones go? serious question

anyone here got one? I'd assumed you'd all have turbo variants

I used to have a Sport back in the day, 1999 model, with manifold, full exhaust, and a K&N I got just over 140bhp, and it went not too bad

They go quite well, the best mods on a sport are to upgrade front and rear brakes to the standard turbo spec then with the rears done you are able to add a rear anti-roll bar which does not come as standard, coupled with some uprated springs and will get a great handling sport.

I think the pics were taken last year around the same time as the last MOT.

When I read the MOT details he gives in the advert the pic shows around 30 miles less than what the MOT certificate says (apparently)

I had a white sport, normal mods, filter, exhaust etc.. and it was a loverly car, never let me down, but when you get it, start saving as you will want a turbo one soon after, lol

i really like it, good detailed advert too which says to me the owner is more likely to have looked after the car.

worth viewing at least if its an easy train journey away

Doesn't the number of owners put anyone off?

I'll keep it in my watching and see if anyone bids. I'd consider £1800 as Sport Specials do have a higher price than normal sports and we like the colour.

Gonzo might be right though, might be some bids before the end.

Looks like a genuine, straight motor. I'd certainly bid on it if I was in the market for a NA Impreza.

I loved my old sport. Infac I loved it so much I kept it till it got to 225k miles!!! Looked after they will just run and run.

If your not after speed, with the mods SSS has already said, a great little run about.
