Default help needed

my mate own a subaru wrx he went to pull off in it but it started locking up and off then it makes a noise like a clump but when he puts it in reverse it drives fine could it be the drive shaft come out or somethink

Sorry dude, I'm not part of the spelling/grammar police but couldn't understand your post.

It looks up and off in reverse then doesn't make a noise?

Erm a little better

If a drive shaft came out, there would be no power to that wheel surely as theres 4 driveshafts on a 4wd/awd car, one for each driven wheel.

Wouldn;t have thought reverse would make any difference either. What about the differential in the gearbox or rear differential/prop shaft?

Has your mate had it jacked up at all or had the opportunity to look underneath?

This thread any good to you? Sounds a little similar to something which happened to me 2 years ago.

are you saying it drives fine in reverse but it plays up going forward??

what chocolate o brian is saying seems about right to me, gearbox seems to be ok, would seem to be a diff, either in the gearbox or rear axle. is it all wheels locking up or just one, or just front or rrear axle?

not sure all i can say when i put it in 1st it locks up and makes a noise when i reverse it its fine and all gears seem to be goin in fine aswelll what could it be guess wise

sounds like a differential? difficult to diagnose without actually seeing whAT the car is doing

my mates old scoob did the same and had no problem selecting gears turned out to be some broken internals so we ended up doing a box swap.
