Default Closed deck block

Hi everyone. I posted recently about CDB..i need some one to put me out my misery..was told they having cross hatch markings on the block so thought i will check my old block...i took a few pics of where i seen the markings...they are just beneath where the inlet manifold sits...can anyone help?

its was a wrx 1995 sunroof and abs model...had a td05 and z4ecu as standard...was a fresh import i blew the engine and stripped the car but still have the engine and wanted to find out so i could do a big build on it

sorry mate that aint a cdb, where your oil pressure switch is there should be some cross hatching and also where there is a bulb shape where the starter motor is.

its got the straight line bolts for the inlet manifold which i have been told they use them heads on the STI model so guessing its a CDB sti block..

crosshatch marking should be above the cam sensor , front of engine above crank pulley also around oil filetr area on block

so them markings dont really meen anything?just abit confuse as it had straight line bolts and to be honest performed like a beast...

sti's had open blocks too. Are you trying to find out if it was a sti engine?

i no they had open deck..semi close deck and fully closed deck...just trying to find out if it was fully any of the 3

Classics didnt have semi closed deck blocks, just open or closed.

o ok i just got told there are hatchings but not told where they were...i assumed mine was a cdb when i saw the hatchings near the inlet...lol
