Default 10/40 or 05/40 oil 2.0l wrx

will 10/40 oil be ok in my 55plate 2.0 wrx as a top up.

just had my wheel aligned at KF and asked if they would check the oil level as I brought 1L of 05/40 from halfords.
After he finish he said I checked your oil and put 3/4 L in, I asked what oil and he said 10/40, I said it shoulkd be 05/40.

Will this be ok?

He said that his computer said this was the correct grade!

the 5/30 edge is a very good oil and maybe for your model might be a better choice i have always used 10/40 in my classics

I always thought that magnatec was generally thought of a bad oil to use in scoobs, also i remember reading a letter from Motul who supplied oil for the SWRT which said 5w 30 is an oil they would reccomend.

Dear Sir,

Subaru basic recommendation is 5W-30 but you have the possibility to adjust to your own use, for normal, we recommend Motul 8100 Eco-nergie 5W-30, for hard driving or racing, we recommend Motul 300V Power 5W-40 or better Motul 300V Competition 15W-50.

Best regards

That might of been me who originally posted the letter from Motul. If not I asked same question and received same answer from him. Been using Motul 300V 5-40 in my 2003 WRX for about 5 years without any problems.
Alyn from AS Performance does it at a very good price.
