Default How much better is a PPP sti?

Hi guys,

I have a 05 EUDM sti, but an 05 UK type sti with PPP has come up for sale nearby.

Just asked him if he'd do a P/ex for mine.
Wondering how much better is a PPP'd one over a standard sti?
Ride, power, sound etc??

All info appreciated.

Plus i always wanted a black one, and mines blue!

You could make yours the equivalent as a PPP (well actually quite a bit better, circa 330bhp) for about £1200.

Cost you more to change the colour though.

Black is faster though

Oh, and to answer your question. Yes, it's much better at a Stage 1 over standard.

Get a cat back exhaust on yours, remap it to 330bhp and you'll have a car better than either (probably for less if you source a 2nd hand exhaust).

Same year, phone kit an mileage as mine, so if its as tidy it'd be worth spending a few quid to change if he's interested so!

Anyone else any opinions??

Does a PPP have different suspension at all or geo?

The PPP is just a sportscat exhaust, fuel pump, panel filter and remap.

You can buy prodrive springs for about £180, fitted about £400-500. Lowers and stiffens the ride and reduces roll. The PPP wont give you these though.

There a big difference between a PPP car and a standard STI.

I've been there, done that.

But I'll tell you something else - there an even bigger difference between a properly remapped PPP car and a the standard PPP car

Been there - done that too
Look up the northern ireland section on Andy Forrest remap.

in my opinion/experience, the PPP remap is terrible!! When I had it on a rolling road, it was pushing out 238bhp. Prodrive rate on the airflow entering the sensor and calculate the BHP...what a load of nonsense!! Couple that with overfueling by 10% and lets not forget the retardation of boost at hot & cold...grrr

Long story short, had a proper service (something the so called previous 'enthusiast' had claimed was being done!!!), took it to 'torque of the devil' and its now at a rolling road rated 307bhp with 322lbs. Its a different car.

You obviously get the bigger injectors and fuel pump etc, but have a look around as it may be cheaper to get it done seperately.

I keep toying with a de-cat, but I have better things to do with my money!!!

...but lordy, it now goes like stink and I have the car I always hoped it should be )

What model/year?
A ppp'd STI will push out 300bhp, on rollers it can be less if the fan is not set up correctly, my MY00 pushed pretty much spot on power and I have seen 2 identical 330's push exactly the same power with just 1lb of torque different between them, think thats pretty good really

Thanks for all the replies guys.

The owner was flat out not interested, he didnt even ask how much would i give him along with mine.
I prob would have given as much as €1000 on top, meaning he could sell mine for 1k less (which should be easier) and still be as well off.

I thought it would be handy to have the stuff done already rather than going rooting, and being without the car for a few days here an there.

Plus i prefer the black!

Oh well.......might just have to do the work myself.
