Newage STI MY03 - What mileage is too much
I'm looking at buying a MY03 plate STI and concerned about excessive mileage.
Ideally I would go for one with around 40k miles but financially I may have to go for one with 60-70k or so.
I would also have it remapped [if it isn't already] and my concern is wether 60k+ miles with 330+ bhp/torque is going to be a recipe for disaster.
Any thoughts?

i know of someone running a newage wrx that's done well over 100k on the original engine which was running 330/330 and later running a lot more on a tdo5/20g and there is not a day it isn't thrashed, its still holding together and is quiet as anything, his only problem is gearbox's.

My clutch cried enough at 42,000 miles and at 360 ft.lb. of torque.... 'twas fine at the 340 mark, and it took a bigger turbo and supporting mods to kill it
Just make sure the synchros are all fine, and that the clutch isn't slipping.

Mines on 61K and run's sweet as a nut. A lot depaneds on how it's been driven and who serviced it and at what intervals.
Like Dunx says check the obvious things as you would with any car. A well serviced STi should be no more or less reliable than any other car with say 10-12k a year on the clock

94k miles on mine now and no serious problems over the past 3 years.
Bought with 67k on the clock with no mods (only PPP).
Now been remapped twice, gone down the twin scroll route
Clutch will need replacing soon though

Good question, i was lucky and got an 04 with only 20k on the clock but i wouldn´t have hesitated going up to 80k so long as it looked like the owner (s) had looked after it, ie warmed it up and down, changed oil regularly and belts as necessary, lets face it they have all been thrashed and if mine hadn´t it has now!

Im using a td05 18g which i have to say is great> Instant response> still using a top mount i/c
I have two maps on it one v-power and one with a mix of E85> the torque using E85 is great, infact to the point i rarely run it on just unleaded.
I have had it on some rollers but im very sceptical of the figuires it produced> I have a graph here somewhere showing 390bhp and 370 something of torque.
I doubt its that much and i wasnt really happy with the way the rollers were being used at a rolling road day so i dont use those figuires.

@Turbotits - Did you have to do anything else to run E85 other than mapping?
Do you have 2 fuel tanks or just run close to empty before refilling?
Does fuel consumption increase dramatically using E85?

Fuel lines are standard< was running a walbro pump all ready and 650 injectors>
The important thing is that the fuel system can supply enough fuel>
I leave the tank to run empty(fuel light on) then add 10 litres of E85 and then fill up on top as normal.
Havent noticed a difference in consumtion but i dont measure it
